Accident & Emergency (A&E) Casualty Services
All Cimas members are encouraged to reserve Accident and Emergency (A&E) services, also known as Casualties, for dire emergencies to ensure availability for those in genuine need. Accessing A&E (Casualty Units) for non-emergency services will result in co-payments. Download the Cimas App to track your benefits and their limits.
A&E is specifically for life threatening conditions such as:
Severe injuries
Severe chest pain
Difficulty breathing
Uncontrolled bleeding
Alternatives to Accident & Emergency (A&E) Casualty Services:

Frequently Asked Questions
If you're unsure, it's always better to be on the side of caution and seek immediate medical attention.
For minor injuries (like sprains or minor cuts), it's often better to visit a Primary Care Clinic or your GP.
Wait times can vary based on the severity of cases being treated. Always expect delays during busy periods.
Use A & E only for emergencies. For non-urgent issues, see the alternatives listed above. A & E operates on a triage system, prioritizing those with the most urgent needs.
Arriving with all necessary medical information is helpful, but please remember that triage protocols must be followed.
In most cases, you won't be able to choose your own doctor in an A&E department. The doctor on duty will assess your condition and provide appropriate care.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that our Accident & Emergency (A&E) facilities are available for those who need them most. Thank you for your understanding and commitment to responsible healthcare use. Please remember that your health is our priority. By knowing when to seek A&E care and taking steps to minimize costs, you can access the care you need while also preserving your funds.
